Yiwu News
Four young Chinese were committed for trial on Tuesday at a depositions hearing on charges in connection with the death of a fellow student from Yiwu of China, whose body was found floating in a suitcase in the Auckland harbour.

Police allege that the parents of Wan Biao, 19, student, from Yiwu in Zhejiang province, were telephoned with a ransom demand for 4 million yuan (about 500,000 US dollars) before he was killed in a city apartment after being kidnapped.

His body was found by a couple sailing in the harbour off Auckland, New Zealand's biggest city and home to the country's largest population of Chinese students, on April 14.

Police said he was strangled and an attempt had been made to cut off his head with a saw, which was found in the suitcase, Radio New Zealand reported.

Two of the accused, Zheng Li, 21, and Cui Xiangxian, 20, face charges of murder and kidnapping, while the others, Yuxi Wang, 20, and Yian Lianda, 21, are charged with kidnapping and being an accessory to murder.

The four will stand trial at the High Court, no date has been set yet.
